Chris Chamberlin
2007 Body-for-LIFE Grand Champion, Men Age 18-30

Q: Describe your life before the Body-for-LIFE Challenge?

I had worked out since high school but the one problem was that my weight fluctuated up and down….I never had a system I followed.  I was truly dissatisfied with myself prior to the BFL challenge.  When you don’t have a system (that works) it’s difficult to stick to a program.  The BFL program: 6 meals and exercising is so essential.  My problem prior to the program was that I wasn’t eating 6 times a day and I wasn’t eating the proper nutrition.

Q: What made you finally decide to take that first step and enter the Challenge?

I had heard about the challenge years ago and seen the BFL book in numerous book stores over the years.  My weight was at 202 lbs which was an all time high.  I just wanted to get my life back on track and I wanted to feel great.  My family was another reason I entered the challenge.  It wasn’t fair to them that I was sad and depressed due to my weight issue.  I was having a negative effect on them, therefore I new I had to change and that’s what ignited me to enter the challenge.

Q: What were your very first impressions of the program? Did you struggle or was it liberating?

It took about 2 weeks to get in the groove and form the new habits.  It was difficult the first 2 weeks. Change is difficult, but oh so worth it.  After the 2 week point I was liberated and totally focused.  Any and all people can do this program.  I guarantee they will see results.

Q: Talk about the moment you first began to see changes in your body and/or outlook?

It was about the 2-3 week point where I noticed some changes.  My clothes were fitting looser and I was seeing a little definition in my arms.  That’s what got me totally pumped!

Q: How did you feel on the very last day of your Challenge?

The last day was exciting knowing that I made it through the 3 month challenge.  I was proud of myself and the support I received from my wife.  All I knew was that it wasn’t my last day of the challenge because I needed to keep plugging away and having a Body-for-Life and not a body for just 3 months.  I’ve been in that situation before and I wanted to continue the liberating life style.

Q: What was the reaction of your friends and family to the amazing changes you made?

Everyone was amazed at my looks and discipline.  I know I set a great example then and a great example now…I just want to impact so many people’s lives and inspire them to make some changes in their lives.  I truly believe I was put on this earth to inspire and encourage people to do better.

Q: Do you still follow the Body-for-LIFE program?

Absolutely!

Q: If someone were to ask your advice about starting—and finishing—the Challenge, what would you tell them?

I would first tell them to take it seriously.  The next important thing for them to do is to have a purpose and to write down that purpose.  Most importantly they would need to write down their goals and look at them daily (Be specific).

Q: How has your life changed since doing the Challenge?

I’m a happy human being and I feel as if I can conquer anything that I put my mind to.

Q: Where do you think you’d be if you had never done the Challenge?

Who knows! I sure wouldn’t be smiling like I did yesterday, today or tomorrow!

Q: What have you been up to since first joining BFL?

My family life has been spectacular.  I have been focusing on my wife Sarah, daughter Chloe and baby-to-be (5-3-08 due date). I have been preaching the BFL program and I continue to encourage people to make a change and to enter the challenge.  I have also been enjoying my new lifestyle.

Q: After going through the 12 weeks, how was your mindset different than it was before? Were you able to face challenges in your life with more confidence?

My attitude creates my altitude and I’m way up in the clouds.  I know that whatever I want to conquer, I will succeed!

Q: What is your favorite free day meal?

I must admit, I love pizza (pepperoni, mushroom and green olive)

Q: How have you spread the word of Body-for-LIFE to other folks?

I love to inspire and encourage people to make changes in their lives.  I will talk with anyone about the program at any time.  It’s great to listen to people who open their hearts and share their sadness and their dreams.  The BFL program is a tool to improve the lives of everyone.

Q Being that you won the challenge in 2007. How have you continued to live this Lifestyle? And what has been the most difficult part? If anything.

As I have stated before, my weight has fluctuated up and down since high school.  The one thing that was missing was a program.  The BFL is a successful program that anyone can follow.  I have been in great shape in the past but I did not follow a standard program.  The BFL program is for the experienced or inexperienced person.  The BFL program is for life and not just 3,6 or 12 months.  This program has changed my life now and for the rest of my life.  I have the utmost respect for BFL and EAS family.

Q: Current goals:

I want to run the Chicago marathon this year.

Continue the BFL program forever!

Pay off debt (My Mortgage)! I follow Dave Ramsey’s principles.

 Q: Quotes that Inspire:

Men of Action are favored by the Goddess of Good Luck!

Q: Define Success:

Success is reaching a pinnacle…Success takes hard work and determination….Success is not free….During my life I have been successful due to the following 2 things:

1st- You must have a purpose or a reason to want to achieve or succeed.

2nd- You must have goals written down (it keeps you accountable). It’s very easy for things to slip out of your memory so writ them down where you can see them daily.

If you do the 2 things above- you will be successful.
